How to Add Fragrance to Wax the Right Way

Fragrance makes your candle unique. But adding it wrong can ruin your candle. Here’s a guide to get it just right.

When to Add Fragrance

Don’t pour fragrance into wax too early or too late.
Ideal time: When the wax cools slightly after melting.

  • Soy wax: Add at 65–70°C
  • Paraffin wax: Add at 70–75°C
  • Lemon blend: Add at 68–72°C

If the wax is too hot, the fragrance will evaporate.
If too cold, it won’t bind well.

How Much to Add

Start with a 6% fragrance load (6g per 100g wax).
You can go up to 9% if your wax allows.

Note: Always check the max load of your wax. Don’t guess.

Do’s & Don’ts

Do stir for 1–2 minutes after adding fragrance
Do test small batches
Don’t add fragrance at the melting point (too early)
Don’t use water-based fragrance oils
